About Us
The Chicago Chapter of Riders for Health is an all-volunteer group that is dedicated to promoting Riders for Health by hosting fundraisers, special events and building presence in the community while spreading news about the organization's work in Africa.
Riders for Health is a social enterprise whose vision is of a world in which the poor do not suffer and die for lack of access to health care and other vital services simply because they are isolated by distance or terrain. Riders provides access to reliable transportation and trains local healthcare workers and others to manage and maintain the vehicles needed to deliver health care and other vital services to rural communities in Africa. The organization manages them on a planned, preventive basis so that the vehicles do not break down however difficult the conditions. In this way Riders' partners can deliver their services predictably and cost-effectively.
Riders currently operates in the Gambia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Kenya, Lesotho, Zambiato and Tanzania working with ministries of health, UN agencies and local humanitarian organizations. All programs are managed by wholly-African, wholly-professional teams and not by expatriates. Riders for Health is the official charity of MotoGP and motorcycle sport's ruling body, the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM).
The Chicago Chapter of Riders for Health is an all-volunteer group that is dedicated to promoting the organization by hosting fundraisers, special events and building presence in the community while spreading news about Riders for Health's work in Africa. We hope to attract anyone interested in African health care issues, motorcycling, disease prevention, AIDS awareness or just the pleasure of doing good. We welcome anyone who would like to contribute through volunteer work, sponsorships or donations. Please feel free to join our mailing list, register for the bulletin board, or email us with any questions. We're excited to grow this midwest chapter of Riders for Health and would love your help!
